Greetings Everyone, and welcome to the American Aircraft Modeler (AAM) website. The name not only represents the theme of an effort to highlight achievements of pioneers in American model aviation, but also happens the be the title of the Academy of Model Aviation's (
AMA) official publication in the early years. The magazine name changed to its current reincarnation as Model Aviation (MA), following the final edition of American Aircraft Modeler in March of 1975. I have contacted the AMA about receiving permission to scan some of the editions to place them on this website so that anyone can have access to the wealth of information contained within.
Since AAM existed prior to the new wave of Ready-to-Fly (RTF) and Almost Ready-to-Fly (ARF) models, the editions were chock full of plans and building and flying tips. It is amazing to look back through the American Aircraft Modelers and see the large number of youngsters that participated - and in a time when RTF foam models could not be purchased at Wal-Mart.
While the American Aircraft Modeler website is taking shape, please be sure to visit my
Model Airplanes website. Thanks!
